Daisy Saragoussi Verdoner:

Born in Kavala, Greece after the war, experiences her own trauma of being a non-English-speaking immigrant. Difficulties as a young child in school lead to her to become a teacher with a soft spot for ESL students. She married a Holocaust survivor.
